When the Superfast wheels made their debut in 1969, most of them were fitted on Regular Wheels models. Some brand new models also replaced RW ones, buj all those early Superfast toys were first packaged in F boxes,
that we usually recognize as “Transitional F type boxes”. They are basically the same boxes used for Regular Wheels, so their major and minor variables
When Mattel released the Hot Wheels in the late sixties, Lesney had no choice but responding with a frictionless type of toy, the Supefast. In 1969, Lesney began replacing its plastic and rubber wheels with Superfast
wheels, specially designed to add play value to their toys by adding speed to them. As a result, many existing models were fitted with these wheels but remained in F type boxes. The same variables as the regular wheel
F type exist, although no F3 type was ever released for Superfast models.
In order to recongnize that the model is indeed a Superfast model, the word "Superfast" was added on the front and end flaps.
In a very short period of time, the transitional F boxes were submitted to different patterns. Some regular wheel models saw their F boxes slightly changed with only a red "Superfast" added to the model's picture. Soon
enough the red Superfast was replaced with a black Superfast and the picture of the model was showing a Superfast model instead of the regular wheel one. Some other boxes were never released with the red Superfast
and were directly changed to the "Black Superfast" pattern. In two cases, the word "Superfast" was not printed, although a Superfast model was shown. These two cases are the 8A Mustang and 62A Cougar. Although some
may argue these two boxes were available with regular wheel models, it is also possible that Superfast models were distributed with these scarce boxes.

TOP AND BOTTOMS
Other than the tops and bottom described on the Regular Wheels F Box Main Page, this one was either used as top and/or bottom for some models as well:
NEW
The word "New" can be found on a few end flaps for new models, just as it did for regular wheel F type boxes. Here is the table showing all models with "New Model" boxes, and the sub-type they came in. "NS" stands for
"No Superfast", "RS" for red "Superfast" and "BS" for black "Superfast".
