Since MOKO was no longer distributing Lesney toys, the “MOKO” name was removed from the scroll beneath the model. The “A LESNEY” was extended to occupy the scroll entirely.
Most drawings used for B4 and B5 boxes were used for C type boxes as well, so many boxes are almost identical, except of course for the “mokoless” scroll. Despite the very short time of C type box availability, a few model
designs were changed and somehow improved comparing to their predecessors. And to add even more fun, some variations in colors exist, especially for new models first intoduced in C types boxes.
SUB TYPES
There is no sub type in C type boxes for Regular Wheels. The end flap is the same as the one used for B5 type boxes and no change in end flap design was registered in the short period the C type was printed.
MAJOR AND MINOR VARIABLES
VARIABLES FOR MAJOR VARIATIONS:
- The drawing of the model
- The model number size, position and style on the front and/or back
VARIABLES FOR MINOR VARIATIONS, ALL BASED ON THE END FLAPS:
- “NEW MODEL” mention
MAJOR VARIABLE - DRAWING OF THE MODEL
This major variable depends on the picture of the model. For one single model, different design or used of color was available.
The first on top, the 29B Austin Cambridge, can be seen with yellow roof and fender while the second one is a entirely red. 39B has its retractable roof and seats partially in yellow on the very first variation then everything
changes to red (the dash remains yellow). Finally, the 48B Sports Boat & Trailer is almost all in yellow, with only a big yerllow strip on the front. Everything turns to red on the second variation. In all three cases, those are new
models first introduced in the C type style. You can also notice other subtle differences, such as the “3” which is different on the first box of the 39B. The “39” is also slightly bigger on the second one. Number position is also
different in the two 29B cases.
Another type of drawing difference is the lines presence underneath the model. A few models have this particular variation as shown here for 31B, 36B and 57B. It is also combined with a difference in the number position in all
cases.
The “NEW MODEL” mention on the bottom of the end flap appeared for the first time on B5 boxes, and the same was applied to C type boxes as well. A few models were even released in a C type box with and without the “NEW
MODEL” mention, edspite the fact the C type was available for a short period of time.
