The D boxes for the King Size series feature, like other ranges, a very beautiful colored picture of the model inside. It shows the model number in blue, in a white “K”with KING above and SIZE under. The “MATCHBOX”
in arch is identical to the one for Regular Wheels. “A LESNEY PRODUCTION” in black can be seen as well at the bottom of the box.
SUB TYPES
There are two sub types for King Size D boxes. Although the lettering and presentation of the end flap is consistent, the sub types depends on the fact that it is a regular box (D1) or sliding box (D2).
MAJOR AND MINOR VARIABLES
Only the actual drawing plays a role of a major variable. The mention “NEW MODEL” was only used on KS1B.
SIZES
Just like Major Packs and Accessory Packs, King Size boxes come in different sizes for each model.
TOP AND BOTTOM
They are typically black and blue.
OTHER NOTES ON THE KING SIZE D TYPE BOXES
Front and back are always identical. No #7 and #8 are known to exist.
