Release in November 1962, the 73B Ferrari F1 was first available in a D1 box showing the model in red and grey driver. The model number are without serifs and the end flaps show NEW MODEL. The second box, also a D1, is unusual because the model numbers have serifs. They are, however, rather small. When the D2 arrived, the numbers with serifs became bigger. The D2 has three variations based on the top/bottom color scheme.
Only E3 boxes were made for the type E. The diver seems white on that box. The Ferrari logo now appears, as it was missing on D boxes.
All boxes for this model are size 3.
The NEW MODEL D1 and the E3 boxes are less common.
