GENERAL INFO

When it was released in 1959, it was delivered in size 3 boxes. The artwork, however, was obviously planned to fit a shorter box as it was made for a size 2 box. Therefore, a blue rectangle was used. The box has a different back and front, as numbers were printed slightly to the left on one side. The model is all in red and is shown with a ¾ front view.

A B4 immediately followed, where the wheels are now found in yellow and black with red hubs. The letters on the B4 box are all in capital, which won’t be the case with the B5 box.

The first B5 box following essentially reprise the first box, so the face and back have the same difference. The second B5 uses a different design of the model, and the view is more a side view than front. Also, the background that was visible with the other design was wiped off.

The C boxes reuse the two B5 boxes.

At last but not least, a D1 box was made available, apparently for a short time as it is had to find. The TV Van replaced the Service Lorry quickly after the D box was printed, so no D2 box exists.

 

RARITY

The D box is definitely hard to find than the other boxes for this model. Although not part of the “TOP 5 rarest D box”, it is a desirable piece. The rest of the boxes are equally common, but of course the C boxes aways attract more interest.
