To replace the long running 55A D.U.K.W., Lesney opted for a totally different model, the first of a series of police cars, this one based on the Ford Fairlane. The model, however, did not last long on the market before being replaced by the 55C Galaxie. Therefore, only D type boxes can be found for this model. The picture shows the model in dark blue, with what appears to be grey wheels. The first D1 box has the “NEW MODEL”, and was soon replaced by a D2 box. No D1 box without “NEW MODEL” seems to exist.
All boxes are in size 3, with 2 different combinations of colors for the top and bottom.
The model itself has always been popular among collectors and loose boxes are sought-after. However, none is particularly rare, but of course the “NEW MODEL” one is a bit harder to find.
