GENERAL INFO

After the long lasting 49A Personnel Carrier, the Mercedes Unimog took over for number 48. The very first release featured the model in brown and green, similar to the early edition of the model. The E4 box, with and without “NEW MODEL” on end flaps was then replaced with an E4 box showing the blue and red model. Again, in accordance with the model evolution. The blue and red variation comes with and without the “®” at the end of “MATCHBOX”.

As F boxes started, the 49B had its own version (F2), with ALP and also MIR1 bottom lettering. Like the later E4 boxes, the model depicted is the blue and red one. End flap lettering generally have TM only, but the first F box variation does not have any lettering at all.

Note that E boxes had the shorter size 4 box, while the F boxes are size 6.

RARITY

The E4 box showing model in blue, and red is the most common one. A bit less common are the brown and green ones. F boxes are generally harder to find then E boxes. No variation are especially rare.
