GENERAL INFO

Released in 1957, the 38A Refuse Collector was packaged first in a B2, size 3 box with blue rectangle. It shows a large red model with black wheels and yellow hubs, with a very light background. This same box was also available in B3 sub-type. The second major variation is similar, but of course the picture is stretched to fit the size 3 box. The numbers are also a bit larger. This box is a B4 and the box is called “REFUSE COLLECTOR”.

Next was another B4 box but this time, the drawing is different. It displays the model slightly smaller, but yellow wheels and red hubs. Then came a B5 box and yet another drawing, showing a smaller model with a view from above and the straight “3” as part of the numbers. The name on the end flaps is now “Refuse Wagon”.

The C box released after is a repeat from the B5 box.

All boxes are size 3.

RARITY

The B2 as well as the C box are the less common boxes for this model.
