GENERAL INFO
Released in 1957, the 36A barely fit the size 2 box it came in. The drawing depicts the model in red, with yellow hubs and black wheels. A dark background is seen with large model numbers. This variation can be found in B2 and B3 sub-types.
The second major variation, still in B3 sub-type, has a sharper drawing and clearer background, with a different font for the model numbers. The right number is also farther from the model.
With the introduction of B4 sub-type came the size 3 box. It shows an artwork a bit different from the other boxes, the model being more to the left of the picture with model numbers far away from the model, even outside the MOKO LESNEY scroll. Another funny thing about the B4 box is the naming of the model on the end flap, which reads “Austin A.50”.
Another drawing would soon be done, which reuses the very first B2/B3 variation, but fitted on a size 3 box. The model is now named “Austin A 50” (without the dot between A and 50).
RARITY
The first B4 box with “A.50” is most probably the less common. Hard to say if other boxes for this model standout as scarce.
