GENERAL INFO
In June 1962, the second Volkswagen Camper release at the #34 spot was introduced. Even though 1962 was well underway, it appeared in a C box, showing a drawing of the newest caravan. The New Model also appears on the end flaps.
When came the D boxes, it looks like Lesney had quite a bit of trouble getting it right, at least from a model number perspective! No less than 4 different number patterns were done for the D boxes, while the picture always showed the green model with dark gray/black wheels. The first box has the small without serifs numbers, while the second has larger numbers, still without serifs. Then cam a third D1 box, now with even smaller numbers, but this time with serifs. Finally, the D2 box seemed more normal with large numbers with serifs. The D2 box has three different top/bottom configurations.
Before being replaced with 34C, the 34B was packaged in an E3 box.
All 34B boxes are size 3.
RARITY
By far, the E3 box is the rarest of the boxes for this model and is also the rarest of all the E boxes known to exist and can fetch quite a high price. The C box is also very nice to have, although it commands a very reasonable price when found.
