GENERAL INFO

Initially, the 25B Volkswagen Saloon 1200 was supposed to be numbered 80. This is why a preproduction box of this model does exist, showing the box with this number. However, it is with the right #25 that the model was released in a NEW MODEL B5 box in October 1960. The B5 box was a short run apparently, as the first C box also shows NEW MODEL on end flaps. Another minor variation has the box without the NEW MODEL.

The boxes show the same situation as 24B, where the first D1 box has no serifs small numbers, followed by the small numbers with serifs. The D2 box has larger, more usual with serifs numbers. The design itself offers a view from behind of the model, with engine cover open, and obvious silver wheels. Unlike 24B, the D box has however only one top/bottom pattern.

RARITY

The NEW MODEL C box and the small with serifs D1 box are less common, however not that scarce for this model.
