GENERAL INFO

The third of the Caterpillar Tractors was released in 1961 in the same box as 8B, in a B4 box. The B4 is a size 3, while each subsequent box would be size 4. It can also be found in a B5 box where the model is depicted with a smaller drawing and numbers more distant from the scroll.

A first C box was rapidly made, with the model from the B4 box but numbers a little closer to the model. The second box shows a view from above, with yellow tracks and driver.

The D boxes were made in both D1 and D2 sub-types.

On each box, the end flaps closers mention “MADE BY LESNEY PRODUCT & CO. LTD. AND SOLD UNDER PERMISSION FROM CATERPILLAR TRACTOR COMPANY“.

RARITY

The C box, as well as the D1 box, are less common than other boxes for this model.
