GENERAL INFO

Despite a relatively short career, 8A Caterpillar Tractor had an impressive number of different major variations. Those variations are mainly based on changes done on the model drawing.

The first B1 box shows the model in red, with yellow threads and black driver. It was released without the “REG” on either sides, which is an exception and this’s why we will consider it as distinct variation, as opposed top the second B1 ox, printed with the normal “REG”.

The first B2 box shows the model in red and yellow, even the driver has some yellow instead of being all black, and the model numbers are very small. It was then replaced by the same drawing as B1 boxes, before being replaced with a new illustration, depicting the model with a large extension of the engine. The numbers are also smaller.

RARITY

It is hard to identify a rarer box for this model. The first B2 version is probably the less common, but that would need confirmation be fellow collectors.
