As it came in 1962, the 1D Road Roller is a rare case where no NEW MODEL box was ever made for it. Usually, late B5 box, as well as C and D boxes all received this distinction on their first release box, with the exception of 5C, another number which repeated a very similar model on each release.
The D1 and D2 boxes showed the green model and red rollers, without any driver. The D1 box came in one single top/bottom color scheme, while the D2 came in 3 different ones.
An E3 box followed, showing this time a green driver.
The E3 box is the third rarest E box, between 34B and 46B. So this is a piece box collectors would like to add to their collection.
